We have posted below some of the images that we intend to show this evening at the consultation.

This is inevitably a reduced format and we hope that as many of you as possible will be able to attend this evening’s presentation in the library from 6.30pm.

Introduction

The purpose of this masterplan for the centre of Walthamstow is to provide a comprehensive approach to the regeneration of the area, maximising opportunities and benefits, whilst building upon, and nurturing, unique local assets including a burgeoning array of small independent retailers / businesses, Walthamstow Market and Town Square and Gardens. Primarily the masterplan is designed to aid the delivery of the principle objective of LBWF for Walthamstow Town Centre by unlocking long-term physical, economic and social sustainable regeneration to create a high quality and mixed-use urban environment. The Masterplan provides a comprehensive strategy for delivering the regeneration of the area applicable to the current economic climate, whilst enabling the realisation of the vision established in the Walthamstow Town Centre IPPF by identifying and capitalising on non-interlinked opportunities, providing site-specific guidance, maximising opportunities and benefits for the local community, all of which are embedded within an adaptive holistic framework.

Status

The masterplan will form part of future planning policy through the emerging Area Action Plan (AAP) for Walthamstow. The Walthamstow Town Centre, Arcade site and Town Square Masterplan represent interim planning guidance for the area and form part of the evidence base for the AAP.
